Our story

An internationally acknowledged ‘nautical pioneer’, Fernando Amerio began his remarkable journey in 1973 when he founded Permare. As a trained mechanic, expert diver and fisherman, he had already sensed the huge potential of Italian pleasure boating as early as the 1960s. Permare thrived as a versatile service provider, a respected dealer and meticulous contract builder. Fuelled by his extensive experience, an abiding love for the sea and an unwavering drive towards experimentation, he brought Amer Yachts to life in 1990, marking its debut with the construction of a distinguished 20-metre craft.

Fernando Amerio’s vision, eventually shared with his daughters and son, Alessandra, Barbara and Rodolfo, and now with his granddaughters, and refined in over 35 years of research and development, has earned the trust of countless sea lovers who share the same passion, leading to the launch of over 100 yachts and gaining global recognition for excellence. This legacy of trust and innovation defines the unique journey of Amer Yachts, where a blend of tradition and contemporary vision shapes its strategic direction and future, all firmly rooted in the active involvement of three generations of the family in the company’s leadership.

Amer Yachts’ research activities, in close collaboration with universities and industrial and technological partners, are central to the development of tailor-made, cutting-edge yachts and to setting new nautical standards. This dedicated effort has resulted in both international recognition and numerous patents. No more than a few boats are produced each year, all designed, manufactured and tested under the direct supervision of Fernando and Rodolfo Amerio. They remain at the helm of research, development, design and engineering. The shipyard is their true domain – the powerhouse where their deep-seated collaboration with shipowners, captains, technicians, designers and suppliers flourishes, evolving into shared projects and a continuous stream of innovative solutions.
